Passage 1(2024衡阳模拟)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有一项为多余选项。
If you are alone at home, what will you do most of the time? Will you feel bored? If so, you’d better have a hobby. Having a hobby helps to make you become a more interesting person. It can also help you to avoid feeling bored and often provide the chance to meet new people with similar interests. 1
Firstly, think of a hobby that might interest you. 2 Ask yourself these questions:Why do I love doing this thing? Is it worth spending my time on this activity? Is it interesting?
3 Think about collecting stamps and what you might need to do to start and maintain a stamp collection. Think of other things you might like to collect such as coins, dolls or chocolate wrappers.
Thirdly, discover art as a hobby. Have you ever been to a museum? Have you ever looked at the paintings on the walls and wondered if you could do the same thing? How about trying painting for yourself—in oils or watercolors? Or maybe you can try drawing with charcoal (木炭) or colored pencils.
Fourthly, enjoy sports as a hobby. 4 You can also play games with your friends or family members. Think about how much it would cost, and the time it would take to learn and play.
Lastly, go on the Internet or visit a local library for more information. Look for information about the hobby you are interested in. Find out if you have to buy something for your hobby.
A.Secondly, collect things.
B.Watch soccer, basketball, ping-pong or tennis competitions on television or at your local sports ground.
C.Let’s read the passage and find the ways.
D.It’s really boring to have a hobby.
E.It might be an interest that you have always hoped you have time and money to enjoy.

Passage 2(2024长沙二模)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有一项为多余选项。
Leon’s Traveling Stories in China
I’m Leon McCarron from Northern Ireland. Known as a traveler and travel writer, I’ve traveled more than 50,000 kilometers on foot over the past ten years. 1 Here are some special memories of my trips to China.
My friend Rob and I once walked from northern China to the southern part of the country. When we were in the Gobi Desert, it was in winter, when the temperature could go down to about -20℃. At night there was also heavy snow. But the locals were very kind. They offered us food and hot drinks. 2
On our trip to the Yellow River, it was rather cold as well. After walking along the frozen Yellow River for a few days, we were slowly running out of food. We were starting to get worried about it.
3 A very old man walked out to greet us and said he knew the shortest way over the mountain to the next village, where we could fill up our supplies(补给). He led us to the mountain top and then down the other side. It would probably take us a whole day or even more to find the way by ourselves. But with his help, we did it in only two hours.
Kindness is everywhere in China. During my travel, I received a great welcome and accepted a lot of help from the local people. 4 I’m really thankful to those people along the way.
A.Luckily, we found a small house.
B.The man helped by preparing some food for us.
C.Their kindness brought me a sense of warmth.
D.I’ve been to China many times and I love the country.
E.Also, they let us spend the night with them to avoid the snowstorm.
