Passage 2(2024 郴州二模)
Steven lost an arm after a traffic accident years ago. On that day, he was knocked down by a car badly. The bones in his left arm were smashed into pieces. “I can’t feel my hand!” Steven shouted when he woke up in the hospital. It was the only way he could think of to stop things from getting worse, though it was no use at all. That was really the hardest time for him.
However, life still went on. Steven spent the next two years in the hospital. At first, he couldn’t even tie his shoes or open a bottle of water by himself. Later on, with the support of his wife, he realized that he had no choice but to face life. He started to take part in all kinds of activities. He even decided to learn to play the violin. Steven knew nothing about playing the violin and had no one to ask for help until he met Lam, a part - time violinist.
Steven became Lam’s first student. He practiced playing the violin with Lam’s help. Sometimes he even played in public. When he played on the street, what people offered was not pity but admiration (敬佩).
Steven says playing the violin does not make life easier for him, and he still has to face new challenges every day. However, he won’t give up. And he will never stop trying different new things in his life.
