（时文阅读）When we go hiking in the mountains, we may be unable to find a phone signal and get lost. Thanks to a new satellite network, this will not happen in the future.
In August, 2024, China launched a group of 18 satellites into space. This was the first step in building “Qianfan”, a large communication network.
SpaceSail, a company in Shanghai, is leading the work. “This year, we will send 108 satellites. In the end, there will be more than 10,000 of them in Qianfan,” Lu Ben, who works for the company, said.
When all the satellites are in place, Qianfan will provide us with fast and stable Internet services. More importantly, these services will cover the whole world. Whether we are in the forests or on the seas, we can connect to Qianfan on our phones and surf the Internet.
What makes Qianfan so special? All the satellites are in low earth orbit. They will stay between about 160 kilometres and 2,000 kilometres above the earth's surface. In comparison（相较而言）, some traditional satellites are about 20,000 kilometres above us. The higher they are, the more expensive and the less stable they can be.

Companies from many countries and regions are trying to build networks like Qianfan, including SpaceX from the USA. But as more satellites go up, the space around the earth is getting more crowded. So China is acting quickly to send all satellites of the Qianfan network by the end of 2030.
