Our Cultural Festival on Campus
答案:
Our Cultural Festival on Campus
Last week witnessed an extraordinary cultural festival(一场非同寻常的文化节)organized by our school(过去分词短语作定语), which was aimed at(旨在)showcasing different traditions, customs, and artistic expressions of students(which引导非限制性定语从句). It was a huge success!
The festival kicks off(开始)with a grand opening ceremony. Various activities were designed, like a singing contest, dance performances, art exhibitions, allowing students to appreciate the charm of culture(现在分词短语作伴随状语). These activities not only entertained us and enriched campus life, but encouraged students to respect different cultures, thus fostering students' awareness of cultural inclusivity(现在分词短语作结果状语).
Overall(总体上), it is a meaningful and rewarding experience that engraves lasting memories on students' minds(that引导定语从句).
第二节 (满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Michael saw the trouble coming. There standing in the hallway was Frank, the boy who enjoyed making fun of anyone at any given moment. Frank was tall and strong, so few of his victims stood up to him. Michael hated the idea that Frank always got away with his wrongdoing. Yet like most kids who were picked on, he just took it quietly and waited for the unpleasant to pass.
Frank walked up, his eyes locked on the books in Michael's arms. When they met, Frank stopped unexpectedly, “Hey, let me see those books!” Some students watched as Michael held out the books he was carrying, trying not to give away his nervousness.
Frank took a book, looked inside for a second, and then threw the book at Michael, who dropped all the other books. “Hey, those are school property,” Frank barked. “Be careful!” Then he walked away, laughing loudly.
Michael, his cheeks turning red, half kicked the fallen books. Suddenly a hand picked up one book. “You look like you could use an ally(盟友)”, a friendly voice said. It was Ramon, the most athletic boy in the high school. Michael couldn't believe Ramon was stopping to help him as they barely spoke.
“Thanks,” Michael sighed with relief. “It's confusing. I don't know what his problem is.”
“Well, as I see it,” Ramon said, “you need to find a way to end this.” Michael nodded, stuck for what to say. Ramon continued, “You know my grandmother used to tell me whenever I had a problem with someone, ‘You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar(醋).’”
Looking puzzled, Michael asked, “What does that mean?”
“It means kindness may be more effective than anger,” Ramon explained.
“Can you just tell Frank to stop picking on me?” Michael suggested.
“That's vinegar,” Ramon laughed as he walked away. “Try honey instead.”
Ramon's words left Michael thinking.
The next school day brought Michael's usual pain. There stood Frank, and Michael knew it would be just seconds before he had to face him in the middle of the hall. Frank came nearer, book in hand.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式作答。

Michael bent down and picked picked up Frank's books on the floor.

Then, suddenly, the unexpected happened.
Michael bent down and picked picked up Frank's books on the floor.
答案:
- **Possible version 1**:
Then, suddenly, the unexpected happened. Just as Michael looked nervously, and right in the sight of everyone watching, Frank somehow tripped over something(被某东西绊倒). Down he fell onto the ground[动作描述], sending all his books flying and spreading out on the floor(现在分词短语作状语). Time standing still(独立主格结构), everyone was taken aback by the sudden occurrence[心理描写,描述大家震惊的情景]. Although Michael was just as shocked, his mind was racing[心理描写] — It was in a split second that Ramon's grandma's words popped into his mind(强调句型), “You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.” He knew what to do. Barely had Frank gotten up with loads of embarrassment(非常尴尬)when Michael went up(barely... when...结构,表“一……就……”).
Michael bent down and quickly picked up Frank's books on the floor. After offering them to him, Michael said with a smile, “You look like you could use an ally.” Now, it was Frank's turn to be numbed there with burning cheeks, as Michael's response was way out of his expectations(出乎他的意料). He quickly took his books, muttered in a low voice, “Uh, thanks” and fled the scene [took, muttered, fled三连动把Frank快速离开的情景生动地表达出来]. Out of the corner of his eye, Michael caught Ramon approaching with a knowing smile and a thumbs - up. “My grandma would be proud of you,” Ramon remarked. “Well, I guess that's just honey,” Michael grinned. “And I hope it sticks.”
- **Possible version 2**:
Then, suddenly, the unexpected happened. Frank tripped over his own shoe laces and fell to the ground, scattering his own books everywhere(现在分词短语作状语). The other students laughed as Frank struggled to pick himself up, his face turning red with embarrassment(独立主格结构). Michael couldn't believe his luck. For once(破天荒), the tables had been turned(局面扭转)and he had the upper hand(占据优势). He could have laughed and made fun of Frank, but he suddenly remembered what Ramon said the other day(宾语从句). “You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Maybe kindness is more effective than anger when dealing with(处理,应对)people like Frank,” Michael told himself.
Michael bent down and quickly picked up Frank's books on the floor. As he handed them back, he noticed that Frank seemed different. There was a sense of gratitude in his eyes instead of the usual hostility. “Thanks,” Frank muttered quietly, avoiding eye contact(动作描写,描述Frank的不好意思). Michael nodded and walked away, feeling a sense of satisfaction(现在分词短语作伴随状语). He had finally found a way to deal with his bully. From that day on, Frank never bothered him again. Michael had learned a valuable lesson — kindness and compassion(同情,怜悯)can go a long way(对……大有帮助)in resolving conflicts. He had caught more flies with honey than with vinegar.
