Li Hua
答案: Dear Peter, How's everything going? I'm writing to share my experience in the high school English speech contest of the city last week. With weeks of practice beforehand (事先,预先), I walked to the stage confidently and hopefully. Fear seized me for some seconds (无灵主语的使用) before I recovered (恢复) myself and delivered my speech fluently (时间状语从句). All my efforts finally paid off (取得成功) when there came thunderous applause (雷鸣般的掌声) (时间状语从句,从句为倒装句) — I won first prize. Though challenging (让步状语从句的省略), the contest turned out rewarding (有回报的). As the saying goes, “You reap what you sow(俗话说,一分耕耘,一分收获). ” Best wishes! Yours sincerely, Li Hua

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
In the town of Greenfield, a group of three adventurous spirits — Jack, Simon, and Lucas — had discovered an ancient map in Jack's grandfather's house. The map, yellowed with age, described a mysterious island that had the legendary(传说的) Silver Falcon, a statue that was said to award its finder enormous wisdom and fortune.
As typical eighth graders with the excitement of discovery and dreams of greatness, they decided they would be the ones to discover this hidden treasure. They agreed to start this search during the up - and - coming spring break, keeping their plans secret from the adults who would undoubtedly discourage such a dangerous adventure.
The days that followed were filled with preparation. They read books on survival, learned about the stars for navigation, and tested their courage in smaller woods. The boys were united by their unshakable resolve and the promise of an adventure that could change their lives forever.
As the spring break began, they set out just as the sun painted the sky with colors of orange and gold. They felt a mixture of excitement and slight nervousness. They carried backpacks filled with supplies and the ancient map that they hoped would lead them to glory. The beginning of their journey was full of laughter and songs around the campfire, but as days passed, the trip's reality set in. The path grew more dangerous, and the maps guided them through thick woods and muddy wetlands. They learned to work together as their friendship was tested by constant challenges. Slowly, the island drew nearer.
A conflict arose when they reached the foot of Mount Veritas, the final barrier before reaching the island. Lucas twisted his ankle, and the slightest movement sent sharp pains shooting through his leg. With time running out, Jack and Simon had to make a choice: Should they push on and risk Lucas' well - being or turn back after coming so far?
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
At crossroads, Jack and Simon exchanged knowing glances.
When reaching the Silver Falcon, the three boys found no fortune there at all.
答案: At crossroads, Jack and Simon exchanged knowing glances. They realized they couldn't leave Lucas behind and that the statue could wait but their friendship could not (宾语从句). With great determination (决心) and strengthened bonds (加强的纽带) [心理状态], they constructed a makeshift stretcher (搭建一个临时的担架) and carried Lucas through the last leg of their journey [手部动作描写]. As they reached the top of the last hill (时间状语从句), the island revealed itself (显示出来) in all its glory (壮丽地). It was more impressive (令人赞叹的) than they could have ever imagined. The Silver Falcon stood in the center, its wings shining in the sunlight (独立主格结构). When reaching the Silver Falcon, the three boys found no fortune there at all. At that time, they realized the true treasure of their journey. It wasn't about the wisdom (智慧) or fortune (财富) the Silver Falcon could bring (定语从句) — it was about the memories (回忆) they had created together (定语从句) and the lessons (教训) they had learned along the way(定语从句) [心灵收获]. In an unexpected (出乎意料的) turn, the Silver Falcon seemed to acknowledge (认可) their growth. As they stood before it, its eyes shone brightly (拟人修辞), and the forest around them came alive(变得生机勃勃) with the songs of birds and the rustling of leaves(树叶的沙沙声). A soft voice filled the clearing (林中空地), congratulating (祝贺) them on their bravery (勇气) and unity(团结)(现在分词短语作伴随状语).
