In 2025, China's love for football grew because of the Jiangsu football City League, also called "Su Chao". This local league became very popular and helped bring back excitement for the sport across the country-more than any other football programme in years.
Thirteen teams from different cities in Jiangsu joined in this local football competition. All 13 teams had 516 players in total, including 85 university students, 69 high school and vocational school students, 29 professional(职业的)players and 337 non-professional players coming from different jobs. The players are aged between 16 and 40 and they all share the same passion for football. Su Chao is taking football back to the neighbourhoods and classrooms it belongs to.
