A 24-hour library
24 小时图书馆
In a "city that never sleeps", Shanghai night owls have a new place to go—the Heping Library in Hongkou District. Since April 2024, the library has never closed its doors. Every day from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am about 600 people come to the library—about 80 per cent of them after midnight.
The Heping Library's 24-hour opening attracts a variety of visitors. Some are college students preparing for exams. Some are older people suffering from a bit of insomnia(失眠). Some are workers using their laptops(笔记本电脑). "I often stay at the library until almost midnight to study. The environment helps me focus," a high school student said. "At first, my parents were worried about my late-night library visits, but they changed their minds after coming to the library with me a few times. They found the library offers a quiet and safe place for study."
The library also provides a temporary shelter for those who have nowhere else to go. Su Xin from Hubei said she stayed overnight when she first arrived in Shanghai to look for a job. "I couldn't find a job or a place to stay, so I came here. It has comfortable seats and free Wi-Fi. Its relaxing environment comforted me when I was down," she said.

Wang Zhaowei, a manager at the library, said, "I'm glad our little space could help out. We want to attract more people by hosting events like book fairs and book clubs. Everyone is welcome."

答案:
1. D 根据第一段中的“... about 600 people come to the library—about 80 per cent of them after midnight.”
故选 A。
3. A 根据第二段中的“The Heping Library's 24-hour opening attracts a variety of visitors.”可知,和平图书馆是全天营业的。故选 A。
