The applications of drones
At the Badaling Great Wall in Beijing, getting food and water used to require a 50-minute walk. But now, people can place orders on the phone, and drones will bring them over in a few minutes. The drones can also take away rubbish from tourists on their return journeys.
This is just one example of the wide use of drones in China. By June 2024, over 1.87 million drones had received permission (许可) to work, reported by China Daily. The demand (需求) for professional drone pilots is rising. However, only about 225, 000 people have the necessary licenses (执照) to fly them. This creates a shortage (短缺) of over 1 million licensed drone pilots in the country.
Since drones have been used in many areas, like farming, video filming and environmental protection, drone pilots can also work in various industries. The pay is good, too. Some pilots are paid around 30, 000 yuan per month, reported by China Daily.
That is why more people are training to get drone licenses. A Chinese company in Hunan Province offers such training. About 400 to 500 people have graduated (毕业) so far this year. Before, there were only about 200 each year.
To get a drone-flying license for distances (距离) under 500 metres, people need to take 44 hours of training. For higher distances, 56 hours are required. "I believe drones are the future," said the CEO of the company.
People's excitement about drones is tied to the development of the low-altitude economy (低空经济), which is about activities happening in the airspace (空域) below 3, 000 metres. By 2030, this part of the economy could reach 2, 000 billion yuan in China. Other industries, such as AI and green energy, are also expected to grow with it.

2. B 根据第三段中的“The pay is good, too. Some pilots are paid around 30, 000 yuan per month, reported by China Daily.”和第四段中的“That is why more people are training to get drone licenses.”
3. B 根据第五段中的“To get a drone-flying license for distances under 500 metres, people need to take 44 hours of training. For higher distances, 56 hours are required.”
4. C 根据最后一段中的“By 2030, this part of the economy could reach 2, 000 billion yuan in China.”
