The street stitcher in the streets of Edinburgh
爱丁堡街头的缝补人
Mary Morton, a 68-year-old woman from Edinburgh, Scotland hasn't bought any new clothes for the past five years. Instead, she repairs her old clothes. To get more people to buy less and repair more, Morton started her project—Street Stitchers in Edinburgh in 2022. It sends the message of "Stitch It, Don't Ditch It".
Now Morton has built up a group of about 50 street sewers. They go to streets in Edinburgh about once a month from April to October, offering all kinds of clothing repair lessons to people free of charge. While helping people save money, the lessons are really about saving the environment. "I enjoy talking to people to make them aware of the environmental impact of their clothes, and I really enjoy helping them learn repair skills," Morton said. "Beginners are so pleased with themselves when they finish their first mend (缝补), so it's a joy to share that moment with them." Morton learned how to sew from her grandmother at a young age. She did a bit of dressmaking (女装裁缝) and repaired clothes as needed during her working years. In 2017, she retired and returned to the activity more often. Around that time, to learn more about her son's job as a renewable energy engineer, she took some online lessons about the environment. From the lessons, she learned how people could help improve the environment—including by not buying new clothes.
In her daily life, Morton also keeps a plant-based diet and sold her car in favour of biking or taking public transportation. She hopes more people can join her and make a difference to the environment together.

答案:
故选 A。
