China has met its annual target(年度目标) for pollution control in 2018, with more blue skies, cleaner waters and greener mountains.
Air quality in Beijing has seen strong improvements during the past six years. The city had 15 heavily polluted days in 2018, compared to 58 in 2013.
Blue sky days made up 79.3% of all days in 2018, up 1.3% from 2017, it said. Blue sky days refer to days when the average air quality index(指数) is lower than 100.
North China's Hebei Province will try hard to improve air quality further. The year 2018 had been the best year for cleaner air since air monitoring(监测) PM2.5 started in 2013.
Compared with 2013, when starting to monitor PM2.5, Hebei Province had 208 days with good air quality in 2018, up from 129 days. The number of days with heavy air pollution in Hebei decreased(减少) to 17, down from 80 days in 2013.
In 2018, Hebei Province shut down nearly 17,000 heavy polluting factories. More than 1.8 million households replaced coal with clean energy for winter heating.
With the efforts in recent years to stop air pollution, China has made great progress in air quality, but there is the room for improvement.

阅读短文,在空白处填入一个适当的单词或用括号内单词的正确形式填空。(每空不超过三个词)
As we know, some of our living habits are bad for the environment. The use of coal and oil has been 1 (harm) to our environment. Scientists are trying to find some new 2 (sort) of clean energies. Solar power(太阳能) is one of them.
People usually put the solar panels(板) on the 3 (roof) of houses and buildings to get enough sunshine. It is a family solar power system(系统). Some countries have already built solar power factories 4 putting thousands of solar panels in the open air.
Solar power has many advantages. It is easy to get and will never 5 (use) up. The power is also clean and doesn't 6 (pollute) the environment at all.
However, the power is not as widely used as expected(预期). Firstly, one problem is sunshine. Some areas with a lot of rain, like the UK, are not 7 (suit) to develop solar power system. Secondly, a solar power factory needs a large place to set enough solar panels 8 (collect) sunshine. Maybe an area in the desert is a perfect place. What's more, solar panels are expensive 9 the energy itself doesn't cost anything.
Today scientists are trying 10 (solve) these problems. We believe solar power will be the most important clean energy in our life one day.
