But that doesn’t mean I found ancient life. It’s sort of like entering your kitchen and finding eggs, flour and chocolate. A chocolate cookie can be made using them, but you don’t actually find a cookie.
I keep sensing a gas called methane in Mars’s atmosphere. Methane can come from living things. But methane can form in other ways, too. And they don’t all involve life.
My mission isn’t over yet. I plan to keep exploring. We don’t know if life ever took hold on Mars, but it’s amazing to know that Mars once had that chance.
