Many people now prefer to keep flat - faced dogs as pets. That's because people think they look very cute. Some people call these dogs “lazy” because they fall asleep more easily than other dogs during the day. However, these cute dogs are having a hard time.
Scientists watched 92 family dogs of different kinds while they were sleeping. During the study, the dogs spent three hours with their owners in the sleep lab. With nothing special to do, the dogs soon fell asleep. At that time, the scientists recorded the dogs' brain activities and found that the flat - faced dogs slept more than the other kinds. This may be because they don't get enough sleep at night. The scientists explain that this is because of sleep apnoea During their sleep, they can't get enough air and may find it difficult to breathe (呼吸), which makes them always wake up.
This, however, is only one of the health problems dogs have because of breeding (培育). According to the website Pet Helpful, a lot of pet dogs are bred depending on what people like, such as shorter legs, heavier bodies, and larger ears.
Lots of pet lovers are calling for people to respect dogs as they are. Annie is one of them. “Dogs are our friends and breeders must take the health of their dogs seriously instead of just for cuteness,” said Annie.
59. What do people think of flat - faced dogs?
A. Difficult.
B. Special.
C. Lovely.
D. Serious.
60. What can we learn about the flat - faced dogs in the study?
A. They liked staying with their owners.
B. They slept longer than other dogs.
C. They had difficulty falling asleep.
D. They breathed deeply while sleeping.
61. What does Annie want for dogs?
A. Shorter legs.
B. Heavier bodies.

“For thousands of years, humans have raced to be the first... Now, in some cases, we're racing to be the last,” said The New York Times' Paige McClanahan. This is the spirit at the heart of last - chance tourism, a rising industry.
Last - chance tourism is about seeing the last of something, that's to say, visiting places before they disappear. Rising temperature and water levels mean that we may never get another chance to see certain islands, glaciers (冰川), animals, and so on before they disappear.
This may sound sad, but some people are using last - chance tourism as a way to spread environmental awareness. One example is “the Sea of Ice” in Chamonix, France. The Chamonix ski resort (度假村) opened a glacier museum in 2012. There tourists can learn about glaciers and how climate change influences places like “the Sea of Ice”. This effort seems to have an effect. A 2020 survey showed that 80 percent of visitors would “try to learn more about the environment and how to protect it”.
Although it has these advantages, last - chance tourism may also be speeding up the effects of climate change. As more people rush to endangered natural places, they create a bigger and bigger carbon (碳) footprint, leading to the destruction of these places in the end.
At the end of the day, it's not just about understanding the need to stop climate change; it's even more important to avoid making it more terrible.
66. What's last - chance tourism?
A. Being the last to see a place.
B. Visiting places before they disappear.
C. Traveling to certain islands.
D. Seeing some famous natural places.
67. How did the Chamonix ski resort help spread awareness about the environment?
A. By opening a glacier museum.
B. By offering free skiing training.
C. By listing endangered animals.
D. By creating a big carbon footprint.
68. What does the underlined word “destruction” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A. Business.
B. Discovery.
C. Magic.
D. Harm.
69. What's the purpose of the text?
A. To show the importance of racing.
B. To spread knowledge about glaciers.
C. To introduce a rising industry.
D. To tell the effects of climate changes.

Recently, the robot Mobile Aloha made by scientists at Stanford University in the US became popular online. In the video posted, we can see the robot preparing dishes on its own. It's also good at watering plants, petting cats and washing clothes. It even knows to shake the pillow (枕头).
Sounds good? Well, another video posted by researchers may disappoint some people. Mobile Aloha isn't good at doing housework on its own. Instead, it learns from human actions before doing each kind of housework. When the situation changes, it can't work well without a human “teaching” it. So it may break dishes, or even burn a pot.
“The robot can successfully move chairs 80 percent of the time,” said the team after they did more research on it. For cooking dishes, it's only 40 percent. In short, it's far from perfect. In fact, AI robots are good at tasks such as math and playing chess, but they face challenges when it comes to simpler actions like cleaning. And it's the same for Mobile Aloha. For example, if its body doesn't move correctly even just with a small deviation (偏差), its arm may move too far to pick up a glass.
“Robots are not ready to take over the world,” the team said.
70. What does Mobile Aloha do in the first video?

71. What do the team want to show us about Mobile Aloha?
A. Its ability has improved a lot.

答案:
70—72 ADC
根据文章第一段中的“In the video posted, we can see the robot preparing dishes on its own. It's also good at watering plants, petting cats and washing clothes. It even knows to shake the pillow (枕头)”可知选A。
再根据第二段中的“Well, another video posted by researchers may disappoint some people”可推知,研究人员想向我们展示Mobile Aloha的不足可能会让人们失望。

F
Once in a small village with green hills and clear streams (小溪), there was a young boy named Jake. Jake loved to try new things, but often, he failed.
Jake decided to climb the highest hill near his village. The people said, “It's too hard, Jake! No one has ever made it to the top.” But Jake wanted to try. He started climbing early in the morning. The path (道路) was filled with lots of dangerous rocks. Halfway up, Jake fell down and hurt his knee. Sitting there, he thought about going back.
Then, he saw a tiny ant trying to carry a big leaf. The leaf dropped many times but the ant kept trying. Seeing that, Jake thought, “If that tiny ant can keep trying, so can I.”
Feeling stronger, Jake got up and kept climbing, step by step. After a long time, as the sun was setting, Jake reached the top. He saw his whole village and the beautiful streams below. It was wonderful!
Jake showed everyone, especially the kids, an important lesson:
73. When did Jake start climbing the highest hill?

74. What was the tiny ant doing when Jake saw it?
