Fushun Di Yangge, a special traditional dance in Fushun, Liaoning, has a long history. It started in the early Qing Dynasty and comes from the Manchu people's ancient dances.
The dance shows us the Manchu people's daily life, like horse - riding, archery (射箭) and hunting. Some moves copy how eagles fly or tigers walk. There are different roles. “Dazi Guan” wears a beautiful Manchu - style outfit (全套服装), looking grand. “Kelitu” (also called “Wai Dazi”) puts on a fur (毛皮衣服) with a string (一串) of bells. Their clothes and actions show Manchu traditions.
Fushun Di Yangge has strong and lively moves. Squatting (蹲), stamping (跺脚), and swaying (摇摆) show the Manchu people's bold (大胆自信的) spirit. The music comes from Manchu Shaman jumping - gods' percussion (打击乐器).
Sadly, fewer young people are interested in learning it these days. But artists are trying to save it. They perform in communities and schools.
