[天星原创]Speaking a foreign language can be particularly challenging because at the critical (关键的) moment, you lose your courage and can't find the right words. 1 These tips will help you reduce your anxiety about speaking a foreign language.
2 Before you go into a conversation, think about what you want to say. For example, if you want to order something in a café, recall the words related to buying something and the names for different food items. Prepare the necessary phrases in your head as if you were actually using them.
Practice with someone you trust. To regularly practice speaking a foreign language, it's best to start small with someone you trust. 3 That way you can decide together how the other person can help you: Do you want the other person to point out your mistakes and correct them while you're speaking? Or would you find that distracting and prefer to get feedback (反馈) at the end of the conversation?
Write a cheat sheet. After you've found the right person to practice with, think ahead of time about a few topics that interest you. 4 Put together a cheat sheet with interesting topics, useful words and phrases or whole sentences. Then if you get stuck, you can look at your cheat sheet.
Practice makes perfect. Speaking a foreign language is just like any other skill that you learn in life — you can only improve if you practice regularly. 5 The more you practice in different situations, the more self - confident you'll become and the more natural your foreign language use becomes.
A.Put yourself in others' shoes.
B.Make preparations in advance.
C.But don't give up yet — not all hope is lost!
D.Once you take the first step, it'll be easier next time.
E.No one expects you to speak a foreign language perfectly.
F.Ideally, you can even explain your concerns ahead of time.
G. List everything you can say about them on a piece of paper.

根据“Before you go into a conversation, think about what you want to say”可知,本段建议提前准备,故B项符合语境。 3.F 根据“Practice with someone you trust”可知,本段建议和信任的人一起练习。根据下文的“That way you can decide together how the other person can help you”可知,通过这种方式可以决定对方应该怎么帮助你,因此空处应提到“这种方式”是什么,并且它应与别人如何帮助自己有关。 G项中的them指代空前的topics,a piece of paper对应a cheat sheet。 易错点拨 有效避误区 学生做本题时易根据空前的perfect和“you can only improve if you practice regularly”误选E项。
[2025 许昌高级中学高一期末]You've heard it before: we eat with our eyes. Color additives are used to enhance natural colors in food and much more. People have been adding colorings to their food for thousands of years. This tradition is widely thought to have taken place in Egyptian cities as early as 1500 BC. 1 With time going by, food colorings grew more and more popular.
At one point, all food colorings got their colors from natural sources. 2 Insects were also often used as a source of food colorings. The natural world still remains a common source of many of today's commercial colorings.
Nowadays, scientists have also developed artificial (人造的) food colorings. These colorings have many advantages. For example, in many cases, it's less expensive to create colors artificially. Moreover, with artificial food colorings, people can create bright colors or colors hard to find in nature, such as blue. 3
Whether food colorings come naturally or artificially, there are health and safety concerns about them. 4 But they have been removed from the market due to health concerns, and some people thus try to avoid food colorings. However, avoiding food colorings can actually be quite difficult.
5 Many governments around the world limit the types of things that can be used in food colorings. And different countries have different labeling (贴标签) systems for food colorings, which allow people to be clear what food coloring it is. Many countries also make certain rules and laws to deal with adding and creating food colorings illegally.
A.Some food colorings are not good for our health.
B.Most food colorings come packaged in two forms.
C.Several food colorings were once considered safe.
D.Plants, like flowers, were very common materials.
E.As a result, artificial food colorings are widely used.
F.Measures thus have been taken for food colorings' safety.
G. Candy makers used them to improve products' appearance then.

1.G 根据空前的“This tradition is widely thought to have taken place in Egyptian cities as early as 1500 BC”可知,在食物中添加色素的传统早在公元前1500年就在埃及的城市中出现了;结合下文“With time going by,food colorings grew more and more popular”可知,随着时间的推移,食品色素越来越受欢迎。 G项中的then呼应上文中的1500 BC,them指代上文中的colorings。 2.D 根据上文的“At one point, all food colorings got their colors from natural sources”可知,曾经有一段时间,所有的食品色素都是天然色素;结合下文“Insects were also often used as a source of food colorings”可知,昆虫也经常被用作食品色素的来源。 E项中的As a result是因果关系的标志,artificial food colorings是原词复现。 4.C 根据上文的“health and safety concerns about them”和下文的转折“But they have been removed from the market due to health concerns”可知,但出于对健康的担心它们已经从市场上被撤下。 下文的they指代C项中Several food colorings。
