On October 1st, the first day of China's National Day holiday, a fantastic new movie called A Tapestry of a Legendary Land(《只此青绿》) was shown in the cinemas. This film is a special mix of dance and AI technology!
The film, which is based on a famous dance poem drama A Tapestry of a Legendary Land, tells us the story about Xi Meng, an ancient painter from the Northern Song Dynasty(北宋). Xi Meng is talented and loves drawing mountains and rivers. When he was only 18, he tried his best to finish the great work A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains(《千里江山图》). But after that, he disappeared and no one knew where he was.
The movie brings Xi Meng's short and amazing life to us. And there is a special character called "Green" in this film. Green represents the mountains and rivers in the painting, showing how grand(宏伟的) and wonderful the rivers and the mountains are. Green also connects the past and the present.
To get closer to the roles in this film, the film - makers and actors all did lots of preparation. The actor who played Xi Meng, copied the painting to understand how Xi Meng felt when he was creating. While acting, he gave his all to the role, just like Xi Meng did with his painting.
The dance poem drama has been performed almost 600 times since it first started in Beijing in 2021 and it has also got lots of praise from people all over the world. The director of the film said, "What we want to do is to help people understand more traditional Chinese culture."
