D跨学科小说《绿山墙的安妮》节选
Anne and Diana were getting ready for a concert.Anne was one of the performers.
" Are you nervous?" asked Diana.
" Not at all.I've spoken lots in public now.I'm reciting(背诵)
a poem that is very emotional(有感情的).”
At the hotel,Anne went to the performers' dressing room. She suddenly felt shy.The other performers were from the city. She was from the country.
Unluckily,a professional(专业的)speaker recited a poem before Anne.The audience was captivated(迷住).When it was
Anne's turn, she walked slowly onto the stage. But she had a fear of the stage, and it paralyzed her completely. She stood without speaking. Then, she saw Gilbert in the audience.Anne thought that he was laughing at her.Actually,Gilbert was enjoying the evening. He thought Anne looked beautiful.
Anne did not want to fail in front of Gilbert. Her nervousness disappeared. She began her poem. She believed in herself.
After the concert, the lady from the city introduced Anne to everybody.A tall girl gave her high praise.
" What an evening ! Anne, your poem was great.I was worried
at first. You were better than that professional woman,” said Jane.
" No,I wasn't better than her.I'm only a schoolgirl with a little
talent. But I'm happy that people liked my performance," said
Anne.
“ Those ladies with the diamonds(钻石)on were beautiful.
Imagine being rich !" said Jane.
" We are rich. We're sixteen years old. We've got imaginations.
Look at that sky. It's not lovelier with money.Do you want to be
that tall girl and look sad all your life? You know you don't,Jane
Andrews," said Anne.
" I don't know.I think diamonds make you feel quite good,"
said Jane.
" Well,I just want to be myself.I'm quite happy to be Anne of
Green Gables, with my pearl necklace(珍珠项链)from Matthew.”
