Every year, some inventions are making the world better and a bit more fun. Let's see some of them.
A girl in hospital had hardly eaten anything for two days. The nurse took Robin, a robot, into the girl's room. After chatting and playing games, Robin said goodbye, and agreed to return only if the girl promised to eat. Surely enough, she ate something. With big eyes and a kind character, Robin is designed to help kids in hospital. "The goal is to create a technology that's not just a device but a partner and friend," said Karen Khachikyan. His company invented Robin.
Andrea Mocellin used to be a sports-car designer. He knows how to make things move fast. Now Mocellin is using his skills to build a better and more travel-friendly wheelchair, the Revolve Air. The wheelchair has many advantages. Mocellin wants to get it out soon. He has nearly 12,000 customers on his waiting list.
Purrble is a toy that can make anxious kids feel better. This toy has seven sensors(传感器). They respond(回应)to touches. Purrble's heartbeat speeds up when you play with it. Then you can comfort Purrble by petting(抚摸)it. This slows its heartbeat down. It calms you too. In a study of 20 families, 19 parents said that Purrble helped their kids calm down. "I grew up with a bad illness as a child and would have loved to have this," said Aaron Horowitz. He's the CEO of Sproutel, which designed the toy.
