A Shanghai coffee shop called Hinichijou, also known locally as the Bear Paw Café, has gone viral among people. The café has no seats or tables, and its storefront is nothing more than a grey wall with a hole.
Through the hole, a cute bear paw interacts(互动) with people by giving them coffee, touching their heads friendly or taking photos with them.
Here, people simply scan(扫描) a QR code(二维码) to place their orders. A cup of drink just costs 20 yuan. There are always people waiting outside the café and the wait for a cup of coffee is about an hour.
The café becomes hot not only because of the special features(特点) but also because of its goal(目标) of hiring(雇用) people with disabilities. “We expect disabled workers to make up more than half of our team. This is our way of helping more people with disabilities to reach their dreams,” said the café’s co - founder, Wang Haiqing. Hinichijou has several stores in Shanghai. Many workers are disabled and have won coffee brewing(煮) competitions, while the rest are able - bodied workers wearing bear claw gloves to interact with people and take orders.
Wang said that the café placing workers behind a wall is to help its disabled workers feel more comfortable at work. Besides hiring people with disabilities, the café also provides them with free coffee as well as training on making drinks. “I know it is difficult for people with disabilities to find a job. It is great to have such a store to support them,” Wang said. “I really hope that there will be more shops like this one and that society will give the disabled more understanding and support.”
