Physical education varies worldwide
At my school, sports can be very relaxing. We don't have to go to a 40-minute class every week. Instead, we can choose (选择) when we want to play sports. Also, there is a wide variety of sports to choose from, ensuring that everyone can find something they enjoy. We can take lessons in swimming, rock climbing (攀岩) and dancing along with ones in soccer, netball and badminton. We don't have exams for sports. Even the younger students with regular sports lessons don't take exams unless (除非) they choose Physical Education as a General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE, 普通中等教育证书) subject.

At my school, PE time is every afternoon from 3:30 to 5 pm. In PE classes, students usually just do practice, like running or weightlifting (举重) in the gym, or playing Frisbee (飞盘) and more. However, people in the US love sports a lot. Sports team training is another way of PE. Every school has sports teams, including American football, baseball, basketball, tennis, and many more. All the teams compete (比赛) in different leagues (联盟)—county (郡), city, and state. Every team has their schedule (时刻表), but they usually train until 5 pm every day. Some students can become team managers (管理者) to help the coach (教练) in team training.

At my school, we have two types of PE. One is standard PE and the other is Sports Enrichment (体育拓展). They are mostly the same, with a few units (单元) about sports and exercise to learn about. In Sports Enrichment, we have six units. Each one is about a sport, and during the unit, we practice key skills for the sport. For example, in basketball, we practice dribbling (控球), passing, and shooting. At the end of each unit, we do a summative (终结性评价), kind of like a test. In tennis, we spend the whole unit passing the ball to each other. So for the summative, we need to pass it at least 10 times without stopping to get a score of 100.
