If you visit Australia, you may want to go to Sydney. Have you thought about visiting the outback（内陆地区） of the country?
Australia is very big, but not many people live there. In fact, its population is just a little larger than that of Beijing. The outback refers to the area that is a long way from the coast and the towns, where few people live.
Alice Springs is the biggest city in the outback. Many people go to Alice Springs to see Uluru（乌鲁鲁巨石）—it is a beautiful rock that is sacred（神圣的） to Aboriginals（土著） in the area.
Another fun thing to see in the outback is Kakadu National Park. It is just north of Alice Springs and covers 22,000 square kilometres. Birds, kangaroos, lizards（蜥蜴）, crocodiles and snakes all live in Kakadu. If you sit quietly, you can see these animals drinking from their watering holes.
The natural beauty of the outback is very different from what you might see in a big city. At night, you can see millions of stars in the sky. If you are planning a holiday to Australia, the outback is worth a visit!
