Most people agree that honesty(诚实) is a good thing. But does Mother Nature agree? Animals can't talk, but can they tell a lie(撒谎) with their bodies and activities? Animal experts may not call it telling a lie, but they agree many animals do something dishonest to others. Dishonesty often helps them a lot.
Many kinds of birds are very successful at fooling other animals. A bird called the plover sometimes seems to be hurt(受伤的) to save its young. When an animal gets close to its home, the plover seems to have a broken leg. The animal follows it, leaving the baby birds safe.
Another kind of bird, the scrub jay, buries(埋) its food in order to make sure it always has something to eat. Scrub jays also take others' food. They watch where others bury their food and take it. But clever scrub jays seem to know when others are watching them. So they get back later to take out the food and bury it again somewhere else.
Chimpanzees(黑猩猩) can also be sneaky. After a fight, the losing chimpanzee will give its hand to the other. When the winning chimpanzee puts out its hand, too, the chimpanzees are friendly again. But an animal expert once saw a losing chimpanzee take the winner's hand and start fighting again. When chimpanzees find food, it's common for them to shout out. But some clever chimpanzees learn to shout very softly when they find food. That way, other chimpanzees can't hear them, and they don't need to share the food.
1. How does the writer start the article?
A. By listing numbers.
B. By giving an example.
C. By asking questions.
D. By telling a story.
2. Why does the plover seem to have a broken leg?
A. To show his kindness.
B. To save his babies.
C. To catch the animal.
D. To make himself safe.
3. What can scrub jays do to make sure they always have something to eat?
①bury their food ②watch their food
③take others' food ④take out the food
A. ①② B. ②④ C. ②③ D. ①③
Which picture describes the underlined word “sneaky”?

5. Animal experts agree all animals do something dishonest to others.
6. A bird called the plover seems to be hurt in order to save its babies.
7. The scrub jay buries its food in order to live through the cold winter.
8. Clever chimpanzees shout loudly to make others heard when they find food.
根据“Most people agree that honesty(诚实) is a good thing. But does Mother Nature agree? Animals can't talk, but can they tell a lie(撒谎) with their bodies and activities?”
根据“A bird called the plover sometimes seems to be hurt(受伤的) to save its young. When an animal gets close to its home, the plover seems to have a broken leg. The animal follows it,leaving the baby birds safe.”
根据“Another kind of bird, the scrub jay, buries(埋) its food in order to make sure it always has something to eat. Scrub jays also take others' food.”
任务 2:5.F [解析]根据第一段中的“Animal experts may not call it telling a lie,but they agree many animals do something dishonest to others.”
6.T [解析]根据第二段中的“A bird called the plover sometimes seems to be hurt(受伤的) to save its young.”
7.F [解析]根据第三段中的“the scrub jay, buries(埋) its food in order to make sure it always has something to eat”可知,这种鸟 scrub jay 把自己的食物埋下是为了确保它自己一直有吃的,但文中没有说是为了过冬天。
8.F [解析]根据最后一段中的“But some clever chimpanzees learn to shout very softly when they find food. That way, other chimpanzees can't hear them, and they don't need to share the food.”
