Ⅴ.阅读理解。
If there is a chicken house near your home, you are sure to be mad about it.You can't bear the strong smell of ammonia(氨)gas which makes you really uncomfortable all day and all night.Planting trees around the chicken houses may work well in improving the environment.Study has shown that just three rows of trees near chicken houses can reduce bad smell and improve the relation(关系)with the neighbors.
Several years ago, people were unhappy with the smell of chicken farms on the Delmarva Peninsula in the eastern United States. Two thousand farms each kept an average(平均)of seventy-five thousand chickens there.Traditionally the farms used windows to provide fresh air in the chicken houses.Farmers hard ll y planted trees or tall crops around the buildings,so the smell of ammonia could travel far away.As a result, the neighbors were angry with the farms.
Then the farms began to use new ventilation systems(通风系统).Instead of windows , the new systems used tunnel(隧道) fans to circulate(流通)air. However, the fans directly blew the ammonia gas to the homes of neighbors.
In 2000,scientists started dealing with the problem. They found that over a period of six years, planting three rows of trees reduced total ammonia by more than half. And they found that smells were reduced by 18%.By now at least one-third of the Delmarva farms have planted trees. The idea offers a way to cut pollution, save money and energy and make the neighbors happy.

When people think of tigers, they think

There were once eight t kinds of tigers in the

Siberian tiger has been in danger of dying out
completely. If the government doesn't make any
efforts,it's quite possible that there will be no
more Siberian tigers in China in ten to twenty
years.
In order to double the number of wild tigers
in the last ten years, the World Wild liKe Fund
(WWF,世界自然基金会)has started a
program recently. It aims to save wild tigers and
put an end to tiger hunting and killing.China,
together with twelve other countries, has joined
in.
Wild animals, such as red deer and wild
pigs, are the main food of the tigers. The
hunting of these animals is the greatest threat
(威胁)to tigers. So the most important thing is
