二、阅读理解
A(2024·舟山期末)
Numbers are not just numbers. They have some meanings(意义). Let's see some of the lucky(幸运的) and unlucky numbers in the world.
As for the number 3, people in Sweden think all good things come in threes. But people in Japan don't think so. They don't like taking photos when there are only 3 people. They think something bad will come for the one in the middle.
Chinese people don't like the number 4 because it sounds like Chinese pinyin "si". But people in Australia love this number. They think four is the top pick for them to get new phone numbers or room numbers.
In China, people think the number 6 means everything goes well. During the Spring Festival, many parents give 666 yuan to their children as gift money. But the number 6 is not welcome in most English speaking countries(国家). So it's not good to use 666 when you talk with your friends from the UK or the USA.
The number 9 also has a good meaning. It sounds like Chinese pinyin "jiǔ", meaning a long time. In Norway, nine is a lucky number, too. There are many nice stories about it. But people in Japan don't like it. When they say it in Japanese, it's just like the word "ku".
Some people think the sounds of numbers have nothing to do with their meanings and that lucky numbers are just for fun. In my eyes, if(如果) some numbers make you feel lucky, just use them as you like. But don't forget to work hard at the same time. I think it's the hard work that can always bring people good luck, not only the numbers themselves.
1. Which of these things may bring good luck to people according to(根据) this passage?
A. Frank from Sweden lives in Room 4046.
B. Sato from Japan takes photos with his two friends.
C. Lucas from Norway opens his new shop on June 9th.
D. Li Ming gives 666 yuan to his friend in the UK as gift money.
2. What do the underlined words "the top pick" mean in Paragraph 3?
A. The last one.
B. The best one.
C. The same one.
D. The big one.
3. Which one can best show the structure of this passage? (P= Paragraph)
4. What's the writer's idea about lucky numbers?
A. With lucky numbers, everything can go well.
B. Everyone should have his or her lucky numbers.
C. With lucky numbers, people also need to work hard.
D. Lucky numbers can bring good luck because of their sounds.

D. Lucky numbers can bring good luck because of their sounds.
答案:
1. C 提示:推理判断题。根据第五段中“In Norway, nine is a lucky number, too.”可知,在挪威,数字9也是一个幸运的数字。由此推知,来自挪威的卢卡斯的新店在6月9日开业,寓意着会带来好运。
2. B 提示:词义猜测题。根据第三段中“But people in Australia love this number. They think four is the top pick for them to get new phone numbers or room numbers.”可知,数字4在澳大利亚是吉利的数字,所以他们认为数字4是他们获得新电话号码或房间号码的首选。故画线部分“the top pick”是指“首选”,此处与the best one同义。
3. A 提示:篇章结构题。第一段概括介绍了不同数字有幸运和不幸的意义;第二、三、四、五段分述了数字3、4、6和9在不同国家的意义;第六段概述了作者对这些数字的看法:可以保留你认为会给你带来好运的数字,同时,仍要继续努力工作。所以这篇文章结构为:总——分——总。
4. C 提示:细节理解题。根据第六段中“In my eyes, if some numbers make you feel lucky, just use them as you like. But don't forget to work hard at the same time.”可知,作者认为,可以保留你认为会给你带来好运的数字,同时,仍要不忘继续努力工作。
