Blackbirds, goldfinches, gulls, pigeons, robins, sparrows… You could watch all of these and many other types while birdwatching. Birdwatchers enjoy seeing birds doing all kinds of things: looking for food, bathing in water and collecting materials to build a nest.
You can try birdwatching in lots of places, such as looking through a window at home or visiting a local park in the daytime. If you want to stay at home, ask your parents to hang a bird feeder outside a window. Wait! Lots of birds will come.
You need to stay still and quiet when watching birds so that you don’t scare(惊吓)them away.
If you have trouble telling what kinds of birds they are when there are so many. A birdwatching book can help you quickly find the picture that matches the bird you have seen. And the Internet can also help you. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds(RSPB)has lots of tips to help you identify(识别)birds on its website. Go online by yourself. Follow the simple steps to identify what you have seen.
The RSPB has a Big Garden Birdwatch event every year. Members of the society can spend one hour birdwatching in a special place, and then record online which birds they see.
