五、完形填空。
Marcus got up from his desk and slowly looked outside towards the playground. Kids were laughing and having fun. He wanted to join them.
Last week, two bad kids, Hitch and Evan, 1 Marcus and his friends. They stole their ball, knocked over the chairs and laughed at them.
Marcus's teacher, Ms Black, a teacher with a loving heart, came up to him. “Don't you want to go out?” she asked. Marcus hesitated(犹豫), and then 2. Ms Black opened the door with one hand and 3 led him outside.
Ned and Malik were already on the swing(秋千) set. Out of the corner of his 4, Marcus noticed the bad kids moving towards them. The bigger one, Hitch, was laughing.
Marcus wasn't on the swing for five minutes when he noticed someone standing 5 him. He turned around to see Hitch standing with his arms crossed.
“It's my turn,” 6 Hitch.
“But we just got on,” Malik said.
The other bad kid, Evan, yelled, “Well, now it's our time to play!” and pulled the swing to a stop.
Ned and Malik got 7. Marcus saw Hitch and Evan playing crazily on the swings, laughing all the while.
“That's it,” he thought. “I've had enough.”
Marcus felt angry. A 8 voice that he didn't even recognize(辨别出) came out of his mouth.
“No, Hitch!” Marcus shouted. “We were here first. You and Evan can use the swings 9 we finish.”
The playground got 10 as some kids stopped playing and looked up. Marcus stood still and tall. Ms Black looked out of the classroom window, watching carefully.
Hitch and Evan looked at each other in 11, and then at Marcus. Hitch took a step back.
“Who cares? Let's go play kickball 12,” said Hitch, quickly walking away. Evan kicked his foot in the sand, and then 13 Hitch.
Seeing the bad kids going away together, Malik ran over to Marcus and gave him a high five. Ned said, “Wow! Marcus, that was amazing! Now let's see who can swing the highest!”
Marcus acted as if it were nothing but felt his face turn red. He was just 14 to be able to play with his friends during the break.
When the break ended, they walked back into the classroom. Ms Black faced Marcus and put her hand softly on his shoulder.
“I saw that, Marcus. It was very 15 of you to say no to the bullies(恶霸) and stand up for yourself and your friends,” she said. “You should be proud of yourself.”
Marcus smiled quickly at himself and seated himself at his desk.
