Ali and his younger sister, Zahra, lived with their parents in a poor neighbourhood. Their mother was very sick and their father was struggling to support the family, and they had only a little money to live on. As they had not paid the rent for several months, the landlord was breathing down their necks.
One day, Ali took Zahra's shoes to a shoe repairman to be fixed, but he lost them on the way home. It wasn't until he got home that he realized he had lost the shoes. Afraid that his parents would be angry and disappointed, he begged his sister to keep it a secret. Zahra agreed and the two decided to share Ali's running shoes. Zahra's school hours were in the morning, so she would wear them first. After school, she would rush back and give them to Ali. He could then run to his school, which began in the afternoon. Although he ran as fast as he could, Ali often arrived late and was warned by the school.
Ali heard about a long-distance race that was to be held for the boys in the city. When he learned that the third prize was a new pair of shoes, he decided to take part. He ran home excitedly and promised his sister that he would win her the new shoes.
The day of race arrived. Ali had a strong start, but halfway through the race he began to get tired and his legs began to ache. Though he was getting more and more tired, dreaming of the new shoes he would win for his sister gave him strength and he kept running until he won the championship, not third place he had hoped for. However, what he wanted wasn't a champion, but a new pair of shoes, ones he had promised his sister.
Ali returned home with tears of disappointment and a sense of guilt. His silent eyes dashed his sister's hopes. He sadly took off his old shoes and dipped his worn feet into the water.
But what he didn't know was that, his father's old bicycle was loaded with daily necessities and two gifts for Ali and his sister, a pair of white shoes for Ali and a pair of red shoes for his sister.
One possible version:
Ali and his younger sister, Zahra, lived a poor life with their parents. Unfortunately, Ali lost Zahra’s shoes by accident. They agreed to wear the same pair of shoes in turn. Ali decided to enter for a running competition to win third place, the prize of which was a new pair of shoes. However, Ali ran so hard that he finished in first place. Knowing that he couldn’t get the new shoes, Ali was upset. What they didn’t expect was that their father had bought new shoes for them.
What moves me most is the love between the family members.
Ali and Zahra have been running in the name of love, which could overcome adversity. Furthermore, Ali’s endurance and perseverance touch me deeply. Finally, their hope for the future and resolve to realize the goal make the story unforgettable.
