二、阅读短文,回答问题
Nearly everyone is shy in some ways. Some are born shy while others become shy because of too much unhappiness. Shy people are normally very sensitive. That is, they care too much about their own appearance and actions. They may always wonder: What kind of impression am I making? Do the people around like me? Do I sound foolish? Am I wearing unfashionable clothes?
Since shyness makes you feel uncomfortable and inferior (自卑的), why not try to overcome it? Here're some suggestions from psychologists.
Keep a diary to find out the cause of your fears. By writing down your thoughts and fears, you can know more about yourself.
Prepare yourself for being with others in groups. For example, if you're going to a party, you'd better find out who will be there and what they will do. Think about what to say ahead of time, and then you'll feel it much easier to make conversations with others.
Make simple changes in body language. Remember that the word "SOFTEN" is very helpful. "S" stands for "smile", "O" for "open" (leave your legs and arms uncrossed), "F" for "forward", "T" for "touch" (friendly physical contact like shaking hands), "E" for "eye contact" and "N" for "nod" (showing you're listening and understanding).
No one ever gets over shyness completely, but most people do learn to live with their shyness. Even actors agree that they often feel shy. They keep on fighting against their shyness so that they can face the cameras and the public. So if you fail to beat shyness completely, don't feel discouraged. At least you can give other people a chance to know more about you.
