E 主题:人与社会·暴露疗法:战胜恐惧的科学钥匙 体裁:说明文 词数:231 难度:★★★☆ 建议用时:6 mins
ccording to the NIH, about 8% of people have a "specific phobia(恐惧)". It's normal to be afraid of things that can hurt you, but when the fear is too strong, it becomes a phobia. Now, a new study shows that facing your fears can really help.

In the study, people with a spider phobia went through a single two-hour "exposure therapy(暴露疗法)", and they learned that the spider wasn't as fearful as they thought. During the two-hour therapy, the participants(参与者) first used a paintbrush(画笔) to touch the live spider, then they used a gloved hand, and finally they touched it with their bare hands.
In the process, the participants' brain changes were seen and the effect lasted for six months, according to Katherina Hauner, the leader of the study.
The study also showed how the participants' brains replied to fear and what happened when they got over their phobia. Right after the therapy, the participants' brains, which were believed to control their fear reactions, were not so active.
This study shows that exposure therapy works. Similar ways may help people with other fears, like heights, flying, or blood. It could be the first step to getting rid of fears from our minds.

答案:
E
25.B 【解析】根据第三段中的“the effect lasted for six months”可知,疗法影响持续六个月,选B。
26.D 【解析】根据第四段中的“the participants’ brains... were not so active”直接选作D;A 与“brain changes were seen”矛盾;B“no longer afraid”表述太绝对;C 与“effect lasted for six months”矛盾。
27.B 【解析】首段总起“面对恐惧有帮助”,中间2 - 4 段分述“研究过程、大脑变化”,末段总结“疗法价值”,因此结构为“总—分—总”。
