Saving a Baby Elephant
i Mei is a wildlife lover. She often volunteers at a wildlife reserve in Africa during
her summer vacations. One day, while she was on a routine patrol with the
reserve staff, they heard a loud cry.
Following the sound, they found a baby elephant stuck in a mud pit. Its legs were
trapped, and it looked very weak. Li Mei and the staff knew they had to act quickly. They
first tried to use long branches to make a ramp for the baby elephant to climb out, but it
didn't work. Then, they brought buckets of water to soften the mud around the baby
elephant's legs.
After two hours of hard work, the baby elephant finally got free. It ran towards its
herd, and Li Mei felt a great sense of joy.
This experience taught Li Mei that with determination and teamwork, we can make a
difference in protecting wildlife.
