The Longji Rice Terraces are a beautiful location, built by the local ethnic groups. With hundreds of years of history, the Longji Rice Terraces are actually a group of rice terraces, located in Guangxi. From east to west, the terraces can be divided into three parts: the Jinkeng Rice Terraces, the Ping’an Rice Terraces and the Longji Zhuang Village. Hiking in the Longji Rice Terraces is not only a great way to appreciate the breathtaking terraces, but also a perfect opportunity to experience the ethnic folk culture of the Zhuang and Yao people.
The Jinkeng Rice Terraces
The Jinkeng Rice Terraces are composed of some small villages, inhabited (居住) mainly by the Red Yao people. The shape of the Jinkeng Rice Terraces is like a naturally formed pit (坑). Less commercial atmosphere compared with other spots and majestic (壮丽的) scenery are the reasons why the Jinkeng Rice Terraces are one of the most popular sites for people who like photography and independent travellers.
The Ping’an Rice Terraces
Located at the Ping’an Village, the Ping’an Rice Terraces are the most mature tourist attraction of the three. The scenic spot of the Ping’an Rice Terraces is equipped with restaurants, hotels, bars, and even cafés. Thus you can enjoy the modern facilities in the mountains. The residents here are mainly the Zhuang people. The two famous tourist attractions here are the Seven Stars around the Moon and the Nine Dragons and Five Tigers. They are close to each other and tourists can choose the suitable places to observe the terraces between the two tourist attractions.
The Longji Zhuang Village
The Longji Zhuang Village is not far away from the Ping’an Village. The whole village is surrounded by terraces. Compared with other spots, the Longji Zhuang Village has the most historical scenes. The age - old Zhuang village has the best - preserved stilt - style architecture of the Zhuang people in China. There are about five old houses in the village and the oldest one was built hundreds of years ago.
