In the 19th Asian Games, there are a few unknown ball games, which we may not see people play in our daily life. Let's learn about three of them.
Squash(壁球) People in the UK first started to play squash in the early 19th century. It became a part of the Asian Games in 1998. Like tennis, squash is also a bat(球拍) and ball sport, but the rules of squash are quite different from tennis. Like other sports, such as tennis and badminton, the two players take turns to hit the ball against the front wall. If a player lets the ball bounce(弹跳) on the floor twice before he or she hits it, the other player gets a point.
Sepak Takraw(藤球) Sepak Takraw is a team sport from South - East Asia. Kicking(踢) volleyball is another name for the sport. It's played by two teams of 2 - 4 players on a court which is like a badminton or volleyball court. Players play with a rattan(藤条) ball which is smaller in size than a volleyball. In order to kick the ball over the net, players need to practise hard to jump high and flip(翻转) very quickly because they cannot use their arms.
Handball Modern handball was first played in Denmark. A handball game can be played with a court, two goals(球门) and a ball. A handball game lasts for about 60 minutes. After the first half, 30 minutes, there is a 10 - minute break. If one team throws the ball into the opponent's(对手) goal, it will get one point. In a game, one team wins the game if it gets more points than the other team.
