B
In cities, farming is changing. Now, we can find farms on city balconies(阳台) too, and a lot of people begin to plant vegetables for gardening. Most of these people are young and were born after 1995.
For example, Zhang Chao is from Anhui and now lives in the city. He became interested in planting when he lived with his grandpa in the countryside. His grandpa often planted vegetables in their garden at that time. Zhang also learnt to grow vegetables. It was hard work, but Zhang still felt happy when he saw seeds grow into plants.
Zhang's place doesn't have a garden but he has not stopped planting. He uses his balcony as a garden now. He says that growing fruits and vegetables gives him healthy food and reminds(提醒) him of the good times with his grandpa.
Fang Min from Shenzhen also likes planting. She is 16 years old and uses planting to relax herself and learn patience. She started planting vegetables on her balcony in 2021 to lower stress(减压) from school. Many of the seeds were from her friends. She planted them and then waited. Half a year later, her balcony became a small garden with flowers and herbs.
After doing her homework, Fang likes walking in her balcony garden. She says the different colours and fresh air in the garden make her feel close to nature. Her vegetables and herbs may not be the main food on the table, but they add flavour(风味) to the family and make their days more exciting.
Gardening is not just about living a life anymore, but it can also make young people feel happy and give meaning to their lives.
