Eliza's parents would go to California for work this summer. They would be so busy because of all the meetings. Eliza wouldn't have any fun if she came with them.
"Dad, if I can't go with you and Mum, I'd like to go to the summer camp of a soccer club. My friend Madeline is going too, so at least I know someone there, even if I'm not very good at soccer," said Eliza. "Eliza, I think you'll do well," said Dad. "I know you feel a little nervous when you go to a new place and meet so many new people. I think you'll be happy if you do it. Besides, I've seen you play soccer. You're really more talented(有天赋的) than you think you are."
When Eliza arrived at the camp, she saw that two girls from her class were also there. That made her much happier. On the first day of the camp, the teachers let the girls choose teams. Eliza was surprised that she was chosen as the leader(领导者) of her team. That afternoon, the girls practised several times. Eliza was the first one to finish the tasks(任务). She did her best to cheer on her teammates.
At the end of the practice, a shy girl named Annie came to Eliza. "I just want to say thanks for helping us," said Annie. "I was really nervous about coming to the camp, but you made me feel so relaxed."
Eliza couldn't help laughing. Yes! Just as her father said, "You're more talented than you think you are." Give the talent a shot, give it time, and then you'll be surprised how far it can go.
