An old man, Mr Miller, loved his puppy. He fed it the best food and paid a dog walker to take Dougal for a walk every day. Every Sunday his grandchildren came to visit him and play with Dougal. He lived a happy life because people would send everything he needed to his door and help him with his housework and gardening.
One Tuesday morning he woke up late, wondering why Dougal had not woken him up for food. When he went into the kitchen, he realized why. Someone had broken in through the back door, and had taken Dougal away. Mr Miller immediately understood whoever had stolen(偷) Dougal must have known him, because Dougal would bark if a stranger tried to take him away.
For two days, Mr Miller stayed in his chair, day and night, thinking. No one came to the door and nobody phoned to ask for money to save Dougal. He went through a list of all of the people Dougal knew. Was it the supermarket delivery guy(送货员), who usually came on Fridays? Was it the pet food delivery guy who came on Saturdays? Was it the gardener who came every Monday? All of a sudden, he realized who it must be and by dinner time, he had his puppy back with him again.
Now, readers, can you guess who stole the puppy? No one had come to the door for two days, but the dog walker should come every day. He didn't come because he knew there was no dog to walk!

答案:
Dougal would bark if a stranger tried to take him away"和"One Tuesday morning he woke up late"可知,如果陌生人试图把 Dougal 带走,它会吠叫。
He fed it the best food and paid a dog walker to take Dougal for a walk every day."
