答案 26 - 28

“Birds are building their nests with rubbish,” said a new study. The rubbish includes cigarette butts (烟头) and plastic bags.
A group of European scientists looked into about 35, 000 studies on birds’ nests. They found that birds had used man - made things in nests almost everywhere on Earth except Antarctica.
Some rubbish seems to be helpful. This is why birds “like” putting it in their nests. For example, cigarette butts have some chemicals, so they can keep insects away and protect the chicks (雏鸟). Plastic bags are useful in keeping the animals warm. And other hard things, such as paper cards, can make nests stronger.
However, human rubbish may do harm to birds. The toxic (有毒的) chemicals in cigarettes hurt the chicks. The chicks may get sick or have shorter lives, according to a study.
To make matters worse, if the cigarette still burns when the bird brings it back to its home, it may set fire to the nest. Pieces of the fishing net may also trap (缠住) birds, and it’s impossible for them to get out by themselves. If the chicks eat other kinds of rubbish by accident, they will also get hurt. Our friends in the air are feeling the bad effects of environmental pollution.
26. What does the underlined word “they” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A. Cigarette butts.
B. Plastic bags.

A. ① - a; ② - c; ③ - b
B. ① - a; ② - b; ③ - c
C. ① - c; ② - a; ③ - b

答案:
【主旨大意】本文主要讲述了许多鸟类正在用人类的垃圾筑巢,这一做法既有利也有弊。
26. A【点拨】代词指代题。根据“For example, cigarette butts have some chemicals, so they can keep insects away and protect the chicks.”可知they指代的是烟头,故选A。
27. C【点拨】细节理解题。根据“Pieces of the fishing net may also trap birds”可知渔网的碎片也可能缠住鸟类;根据“if the cigarette still burns when the bird brings it back to its home, it may set fire to the nest”可知如果鸟儿把香烟带回家时,香烟还在燃烧,它可能会点燃鸟巢;根据“The toxic chemicals in cigarettes hurt the chicks. The chicks may get sick or have shorter lives, according to a study.”可知香烟中的有毒化学物质可能会导致雏鸟生病或寿命缩短。因此是① - c;② - a;③ - b。故选C。
28. A【点拨】篇章结构题。第一、二段提出主题:鸟儿用垃圾筑巢;第三段介绍其有用的地方;第四、五段介绍其危害。故选A。
