What would you do if your best friend and you have different ideas with each other? Karina is my best friend. When we first met in a camp, we quickly became friends. Whatever(无论什么) we did, we were always together.
But then something happened in another summer camp. “Have you heard about the shopping centre news?” asked one of our friends Levar. “They want to cut down some trees to make a shopping centre.”
“That's terrible!” I said. “We have to stop that.”
“I don't think so,” said Karina. “The shopping centre will give people new jobs. My parents said the shopping centre would make new jobs for people who really need work.”
“But birds would lose their homes!” I said. “I want people to have jobs, but it doesn't mean cutting down trees.”
“Don't you think people's jobs are more important(更重要的)?” Karina asked.
“Maybe two people who think differently can't be friends,” I was thinking.
Just then, Levar jumped up and broke the silence(打破沉默). “Let's see who can do a high kick(高踢腿)!”
Levar tried first, Karina went next, and then I joined(加入) them.
I still wanted Karina to join me in saving the trees, but I realized(意识到) she had her own reasons. No two people are the same—even(甚至) best friends. Most importantly, we should respect(尊重) each other.
