ChatGPT is a new chatbot (聊天机器人). It was created in November, 2022 in the USA. The US company OpenAI made it on the Internet and won the hearts of over 100 million people.
From the science news website Future Life, 89% of school students use ChatGPT to write their homework in America. Many schools stop using ChatGPT, because they are worried that the chatbot will be bad for students. Thousands of newspapers also stop writers from using ChatGPT.
Will we use ChatGPT or stop using it when we do homework? Here are some ideas from students in China.
★ChatGPT will help students search for information about the homework. Students will save a lot of time to share their ideas and connect with the world through them.
Zhang Sijia, 12, Shanghai
★Students will use this chatbot to compare their own writing with ChatGPT’s writing. And they will get some new ideas by comparing the writing.
Li Ruijun, 13, Hunan
★ChatGPT sometimes makes wrong information or even gives fake(虚假的) information, so it won’t be good to use it to do our homework. But if we use it, we should check the information again.
Lai Yijiang, 13, Sichuan
★It will help us in many ways, but I don’t want to use ChatGPT to do my homework. The chatbot won’t have any new ideas.
Yin Peixin, 12, Hubei

2. Why do many schools stop using ChatGPT?

Over 400 years ago in China, there was a cool traveler. He spent 30 years traveling across China. He was Xu Xiake.
Xu Xiake was born in Jiangsu Province. When he was a child, his family had many books and he enjoyed reading about the mountains and rivers of China. He decided to see them when he grew up.
At that time, many kids were studying hard because they wanted to work for the government (政府) when they were older. But Xu’s father never made him take tests. Instead, he encouraged (鼓励) his son to go out and get to know the world. Xu began his trip when he was about 20 years old. Before he left, his mother made him a traveling hat to encourage him to travel.
Xu traveled to about 19 provinces and over 100 cities in China. He climbed thousands of mountains and visited over 350 caves. He was the first person to find the highest peak of Mount Huangshan. He was also the first to find lots of karst caves (喀斯特溶洞). What’s more, he found the headwaters of the Yangtze River. Xu traveled mostly on foot. He slept and ate in nature. Sometimes he fell into rivers or ran into dangerous animals. But Xu was brave and enjoyed his trip.
Xu kept a diary while traveling but it was not published until after his death—The Travels of Xu Xiake. The book is still popular today. Being an adventurer (冒险者) can be very exciting. But it also needs bravery and skills(技能).
