Ⅵ. 阅读理解
(2025·全国专题练习) If you have a cat in your house, you may think that cats have one character. But if you deal with enough cats, you’ll find that cats, like people, have different character types (性格类型).
The researchers carried out a questionnaire survey (问卷调查) asking 138 questions. They were posted on the Internet and filled out by the cats’ owners. The questionnaire asked people to fill out their cat’s sex (性别), age, breed (品种), coat colour, and main activity. The researchers asked the cats’ owners to fill out the questionnaire a second time after some time.
From these, the researchers drew a conclusion: there are seven character types of cats. For example, active, fearful (害怕的), friendly to humans and so on. “The most fearful breed was the Russian Blue. The Bengal (孟加拉猫) was the most active breed,” says a scientist Hannes Lohi of the University of Helsinki.
In addition, Oregon State University researchers found that cats really love their owners. They see them as parents. They simply express (表达) it differently. When the researchers did the experiment with a group of fully grown cats, they found cats showed as much love to their owners as human babies, and maybe even a little more than dogs.
What’s more, people often think cats are independent animals, but a study has found that this is not true.
31. How did the researchers find the different character types of cats?
