阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。
Of the thousands of different kinds of animals that exist in the world, humans have learnt to make friends with an enormous number. Some are pets, keeping them company, some give protection, and some do hard work which people cannot do by themselves. Dogs, which serve people in all three capacities, are found in various breeds all over the world. The inhabitants of certain countries are dependent for their very lives on the camel. In the West Indies the little donkey, strong and surefooted (脚步稳的), carrying heavy loads even in mountainous places, is a familiar sight.
Trained and tamed for many generations, domestic (家养的) animals are not accustomed to wandering in search of food and shelter. They look to their masters to provide them with their needs, and as long as these are supplied, they are content to do what their masters require.
All domestic animals need proper food. It must be suitable for them, enough in quantity, fresh and clean. Some people feed a pet dog or cat on scraps (残羹剩饭), and then wonder why the animal seems tired and dull. The quantity of food depends on the size of the animal and the amount of exercise it takes. Overfeeding is as bad as underfeeding. Containers for food and water must be washed regularly.
Even if they are well cared for, animals may sometimes fall ill. If this happens, the wise master seeks the best advice he or she can get. All sorts of medicines and treatments are available for sick animals, and in some countries, organisations exist to provide them free or at a low price. Useful, friendly, hard-working animals deserve to have some time, money and attention spent on their health.
A great many animals in the world have become humans' friends, keeping them company, protecting them as well as doing hard work for them. Domestic animals aren't used to seeking food and shelter themselves and will do whatever their masters expect if their needs are satisfied. To keep domestic animals healthy, humans need to feed them on proper, sufficient, fresh and clean food. Sick animals deserve to get proper treatments, and they are well worthy of humans' devotion and care.
