I'm Caroline Castans. I started playing soccer with my friends when we were 3 or 4 years old. At first, I did it just to have fun, but once we started getting better and more competitive, I fell in love with it.
Role models Growing up, I loved watching Julie Johnson (now Ertz) and Mal Pugh (now Swanson) play soccer. They were always in the air scoring and were so entertaining.
The training plan We practice at least four or five times a week, and we also lift weights. Almost every day on the field we have passing patterns, which are about getting touches and getting your feet warmed up.
Time off It's really important for me to balance my social life and soccer life. I try to do things I enjoy, like baking cookies with my roommates.
Major growth Over the past few years, I've gained self-confidence. I know what I can give to the team, and it's a lot. What helped was playing in games and making moments happen, having teammates remind me I'm part of the success, and having coaches who bring me up, not down.
