六、阅读理解。
In early November, millions of birds flew through the Yellow River estuary (河口) in Dongying city. With its wonderful climate (气候), the Yellow River estuary is an important stop for these birds on their way to the south.
Dongying has taken great action to protect the wetlands and the wildlife in the area. The government is spending more money on water in the wetlands and helping make the air and land better. What's more, the government has built a centre for the area to record and study the information of the weather, water quality, land and the sea. Now people are working hard to protect the living place for birds like cranes, black-billed (喙) gulls (海鸥), and oriental white storks (鹳).
The action leads to a growing number of wild animals staying in the city. Now, we can find 373 kinds of birds in the Yellow River Delta National Nature Reserve, which is often called an “airport for avian species”. This year's birdwatching season activity, which lasts for nearly two months, includes a photo competition, a birdwatching competition and meetings on bird protection.
Now Dongying is not only a wonderful place for different kinds of birds, but also a popular attraction for a great number of travellers from all around the world. It is a good example to show that the world would be a better place if humans can care about and learn to live in peace with wildlife.
