五、根据短文内容,按要求回答问题。
2025 is the Year of the Snake. In Chinese culture, the snake is connected with wisdom, beauty and independence. People born in the Year of the Snake are thought to be smart and careful. They are also good at making plans and solving problems. Some of you may be afraid of snakes. But snakes are really important in Chinese history and culture. They stand for high status (地位), being born again, and a special connection between humans and gods.
Chinese people often call snakes "smaller dragon". That's because snakes are kind of strange and strong, just like dragons. In an old Chinese book called Shan Hai Jing, many gods have snakes in their hands or around their ears. They do this to show how powerful (强大的) they are.
Snakes can shed skin (蜕皮), so they were also connected with rebirth. Long long ago, when snakes shed skin, ancient people thought they died but then they came alive again. It was like coming back to life after death.
Ancient people thought the world had three parts. Gods were in heaven (天堂), humans on Earth, and the dead in the underworld. When people saw snakes going into the ground, they thought snakes could link (联系) people, the dead and the gods.
Snakes have been on the earth for over 100 million years. And they have always been a part of Chinese people's life.
