Sadly, Li’s mother and two older sisters all have intellectual disabilities(智力障碍). In the face of such a difficult situation, as the youngest child, Li has bravely stepped up to take care of his family. Every day, he gets up early to cook and wash clothes for his family, and then rushes to school.
One day at school, Li’s teacher, Mr Wang, was shocked to discover him eating the food left by his classmates in the school canteen. In fact, every day, instead of enjoying his free school lunch, Li Shibo would save it for his mother while he ate the food left by his classmates. When Li was asked about it, he simply said with an honest look on his face, “ ▲ My mother needs healthy food more.”
His simple words showed his deep love for his mother. After the story was spread online, it attracted a lot of attention. Many people were deeply moved by him and praised his filial piety (孝顺) as positive energy. They thought such a kind-hearted and responsible child should be an example for others. Some even thought his behaviour as the “25th Filial Piety” in contemporary times. Thanks to the attention of the public, the school and the government(政府), Li’s life has slowly improved. The school provided lunch for him and his mother. And then, the local government provided housing and money support. Moreover, numerous warm-hearted people reached out to offer help.
