第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
(2025·河南郑州·高三检测)Tom's old bicycle leaned tiredly against the dirty garage wall, its chain hanging loose and rusty under spiderwebs. The torn seat spilled out old foam, like memories coming alive. Nine years ago on a hot August day, Grandpa had pushed the bike out with shaking hands. "Fix it yourself," Grandpa said, handing Tom a dirty wrench (扳手). For three weeks, noises and crying filled the garage. Tom's juice spilled on the tools as he worked with Grandpa. Grandpa patted his shoulder and said, "Don't stop trying!" But when the chain kept breaking, Tom finally lost it. He kicked the wall and shouted, "Total garbage!"
Six years had passed since Grandpa passed away. Tom rarely set foot in the garage until one Saturday morning. He stepped inside, planning to finally clean the place. As he wiped the bike, the smell of rust and old leather hit him. Suddenly, he remembered Grandpa's voice: "Fix it yourself, kid." At that moment, Tom had thrown the wrench in frustration. Now, he saw the old juice stains still on the tools—from when he was a kid. Outside, Jake, a schoolmate, rode past on his brand-new bike. "You'll race with that old thing? You'll lose!" he shouted. Tom's jaw tightened. That night, he took out Grandpa's old tools.
Tom worked every night until late. The garage light threw strange shadows on the ground as blisters (水泡) formed on his hands. Oil stained his clothes; his face was covered in thick liquid. When the back wheel locked during testing, throwing him onto the ground, his mom called from the kitchen: "Stop trying, Tom." But he didn't want to stop. He could feel Grandpa's spirit cheering him on.
On the final night, moonlight turned the driveway silver. As Tom tightened the last part, the bike shook like a nervous baby horse before moving smoothly. Tom imagined Grandpa smiling.

答案:
The next day, he entered the school bike competition. Other kids pointed at his old bicycle and laughed. When the race started,Tom pedaled hard, but his bike moved slower than the shiny new ones. The chain made loud noises, and the seat felt wobbly. Halfway up the hill,Jake shouted,“Give up,Tom!”But Tom remembered Grandpa’s words:“Don’t stop trying!”He kept going, even when his legs burned. Near the finish line,Jake’s bike suddenly stopped—his chain had fallen off. Tom passed him, breathing heavily but smiling.
“You won! But why this bike?”Jake asked,in confusion. Tom looked at his rusty bike.“Grandpa taught me to fix things, not throw them away.”he said. The afternoon sun made the bike’s metal shine a little. That night,Tom hung his race number next to Grandpa’s old wrench in the garage. He touched the bike’s handle, feeling the scratches from years ago. Somewhere,he imagined Grandpa beaming and nodding. The bike wasn’t perfect, but it carried stories—and now,a victory.
