High-tech products, including robots and drones, recently attracted widespread attention for their successful role in rescuing tourists from the water.
Among the products was a U-shaped water rescue robot, a smart product designed to quickly reach people in danger or correctly send supplies. On January 31, three tourists fell into the ocean after their boat turned upside down two kilometers away from the coast near the city of Wanning in South China’s Hainan Province. Luckily, a member of the local BSR team saw them immediately. The team first used a drone to check the situation in real time. Since sending another boat was impossible because of the strong wind and high waves, a U-shaped robot was used. Within five minutes, the robot reached the three tourists in large ocean waves and successfully pulled them back to the coast. All three were unharmed.
“Lifeboats can be broken in the stormy waters, while rescuers can experience physical tiredness or even risk of life,” said Liu Jiao, a member of the BSR. The U-shaped robot addresses these problems, offering a safer and more effective solution. Operated far away from the ocean on the land, the small robot can deal with difficult conditions, greatly reducing risks for rescuers.
During typhoons, it is really dangerous for human rescuers to enter the water, as waves can reach heights of three to four meters. However, the U-shaped water rescue robot can get through waves of any height and function rapidly in both forward and backward directions.
This robot can be used in various environments, such as pools, lakes and rivers. China has made great progress in robotics, applying(应用) these technologies to various fields such as agriculture(农业), industry, and specialized services.
