Mikaila Ulmer is just a teenager, but she knows a thing or two about business. The teenager is the CEO of Me & the Bees Lemonade. She is causing quite a buzz. She has been featured on Good Morning America, NBC News, and in Forbes and Time magazines for her business success. She has even been invited to the White House twice.

Mikaila started her lemonade business when, at the age of four, she was stung(叮) by two bees in one week. However, she didn't become afraid of bees. Instead, encouraged by her parents, she learned more about the insects and their important roles in the food cycle. At the same time, Mikaila's family received a cookbook from her great-grandmother and discovered an old recipe(食谱) for lemonade. Mikaila thought that if she could make the lemonade with honey bought from local beekeepers, she could do her bit to help the bee population, which was a dream for her. That fall, Mikaila's mum and dad suggested she make the lemonade for a children's business competition in her home town of Austin, Texas. The product was a success and, with that, Me & the Bees Lemonade was born.
Over the past few years, Me & the Bees Lemonade has sold 1 million bottles across 1,000 stores in the USA. In 2017, Mikaila set up her own non-profit organization, the Healthy Hive Foundation, to carry on research, education and protection projects for honeybees. What's more, Me & the Bees Lemonade continues to donate 10 per cent of all profits(利润) to help protect bees.
Along the way, Mikaila has partnered with companies like Microsoft to use new technologies that have helped to realize her dream.
That's certainly no easy feat for a teenager. But Mikaila isn't stopping there. In between her studies, she spends her time managing her business, travelling to give speeches and thinking up new product ideas. Mikaila has also created a guide for young people. It talks about her business and tips for finding the right technology to make big ideas happen. "My generation, we're the future," Mikaila says. "If we start at a young age doing something, donating back and giving back, then, when we grow up, we can do that on a larger scale."
