Of course, everyone was expecting a Christmas gift and every house was being decorated. However, my mother told us that we would not receive Christmas gifts because there was not enough money.
[3] What she said seemed like a bomb, destroying the hope in me. Disappointed and sad, I couldn't help thinking what I would say when the other kids asked what I'd got. I, together with my brother and sister, decided to make peace with it. Though difficult, we tried our best to understand our parents and be supportive.
[4] One day before the Christmas, the house was filled with an awkward silence, adding to our misery. We were all having our dinner when suddenly there was a knock on the door. Who would visit us at such a moment?
[5] To our great surprise, there were three women standing in front of our house, saying they were bringing Christmas gifts to us. Finally, we received our gifts respectively. For me they brought a doll. I felt a sense of relief at the thought that I would no longer have to be embarrassed when I returned to school. I wasn't forgotten. Somebody had thought enough of me to bring me a gift and warmth as well. It turned out to be the most unforgettable Christmas.
