Ⅲ 阅读理解
(2023广东广州三中月考,★★☆)
Jessie goes to the woods (树林) with her friend Jamie to get some green branches (树枝) to make the house beautiful for Christmas. She is a happy girl, but she feels sad today because her mother said to her, “People will all have Christmas presents, but I don't think I will get any present for myself. We are too poor this year.”
When Jessie tells her brother Joe about this, they start to talk about it. “Such a good, kind mother, and no Christmas present! It's too bad.”
“I don't like it,” says little Jessie, with tears (眼泪) in her eyes.
“She has you,” says her brother Joe.
“But I am not something new,” says Jessie.
“You will be when you get back,” Joe says.
“Yes!” Jessie jumps and laughs. “Then put me in the basket and carry me to our mother, and tell her I am her present.”
An hour later, Jessie and Jamie come back with some branches. Then Joe and Jamie put her in the basket and put green branches all around her. They put the basket on the doorstep and go into the house and say to Jessie and Joe's mother, “There is a Christmas present out there for you, Mother.”
The mother goes out and looks, and there, in a basket of green branches, sits her own little daughter.
“Oh, that's what I want most,” says Mother.

答案:
I am lucky to meet many kinds of people in my life. They have helped me a lot. Among them, the person I love best is my mother.
My mother is beautiful and has long hair. She is always patient with me. The warmest memory in my childhood was reading with her. It was a sunny and warm afternoon. She took the chairs and invited me to join her. Then I chose my favorite storybook and read quietly with her.
I’m not a child any longer, but the happy reading time with my mother made my childhood colorful. I think my mother is the best person in the world.
