A 70 - year - old man wanted to go on a long trip. He asked his three sons to take care of his money when he was not at home. He called for a meeting and gave money to each one.
The man gave his oldest son five thousand coins. The second son got three thousand coins less than the first one. The youngest one got a thousand coins. Then their father left.
The oldest son was afraid of losing the money. On a dark night, he went to hide the money under the ground. After that, he checked the place from time to time. It was safe. The second son tried his best to do business with the money. Though it was hard, he made more and more money. The youngest did the same as the second son. Later, they began to do business together. When they invited their older brother to join them, he didn’t think it was a good idea and refused.
Three years later, the father came back. He asked for a report on the money. Three brothers told him what they did one by one. They also gave all the money back. The father got 18,000 coins. The father praised the second and the youngest son. He wasn’t pleased with the oldest son because he thought he had no courage.
