Lots of famous films are being remade at the moment.

Some people think there's no need to make a film again if it already exists. Instead of remakes, people should simply watch, or rewatch, the original. If too many films are remade, it means not enough time is being spent on coming up with new and exciting ideas. Others think just because a film has already been made, it doesn't mean that it can't be improved. Sometimes a remake is better than the original. New technology can give filmmakers the chance to do things that weren't possible in the first film. What's more, although the original films will always exist, they were made at a different time; it's nice to make a modern version of an old story that a new audience can appreciate and relate to. Shakespeare's plays are performed again and again by different actors, so why shouldn't something similar happen with films? Anyway, the success of remakes at the box office shows that people enjoy watching them — it's reasonable enough to keep on making more of them.
